Columns and the Done column

Add, rename, move, collapse and delete columns, set limits, and choose which one means done.

Add a column

Choose New Column on the board toolbar, enter a Column Name, then Create. New columns go on the right.

Rename, move or delete

  • Rename: double-click the column title. Press Enter to save or Esc to cancel.
  • Move: open the column’s … menu and choose Move Left or Move Right, or drag columns in Settings › Columns/Statuses.
  • Delete: … › Delete Column. Its tasks move to the nearest column on the left with the same done setting. You can’t delete a board’s last column.

The Done column

Open a column’s … menu › Edit and tick Is done. A board needs exactly one Done column, and it can’t be the first column. Moving a task into the Done column completes it.

Edit also sets the column’s Colour, Work in progress limit and Schedule date days.

Work in progress limits

  • Set a Work in progress limit in the column’s … menu › Edit. The count in the column header then reads, for example, 3/5.
  • The bar under the header is green while you’re inside the limit, amber from 90% of it, and red when you’re over. Over the limit, the column also says WIP limit exceeded.

Collapse a column

Choose the chevron at the right of the column header. The column folds to a narrow strip with its name and count, and you can still drop cards on it. Choose it again to expand it. View options › Expand all columns opens them all. Each board remembers which columns you collapsed.

More in the column menu

  • Mark All Done, Archive Done and Archive All act on every task in the column.
  • Sort by Age and Sort by Due Date sort every column. Clear Sort undoes it.
  • Only deleting a column asks you to confirm.
